Before diving into the details of this release, I’d like to share a quick note: version 2.6.0 was released a few weeks ago, but this blog post comes a bit later than usual. Thank you for your patience!

That said, it’s the perfect moment to celebrate again, especially after recently announcing that Food Expiration Dates has reached users in over 130 countries worldwide.

This growing international support inspires me to keep improving the app with meaningful features and community-driven updates.

Version 2.6.0 introduces one of the most requested features in this new release, along with several improvements that make the app even smoother and more inclusive. With your feedback in mind, version 2.6.0 makes managing your groceries even more efficient and enjoyable.

🔍 New Item Search Functionality

You asked for it, and it’s finally here! You can now search for your food items by name, making it quicker to locate specific entries in your list. Whether you have a large pantry or just want to check on one item, the new search bar helps you stay organized with ease.

🎨 Refined UI Experience

The interface has been polished in a few key ways:

  • The bottom bar has been removed from the Insert Screen to create a cleaner and more focused experience.
  • The contributors section in the Info Screen has been redesigned for better clarity and visual consistency.

These updates reflect our continued effort to make the app feel lightweight and intuitive while honoring the contributions of the open-source community.
